QLD Q: If a voting committee member is not present at an ordinary committee meeting and doesn't give another committee member their proxy, are there any circumstances under which they can still vote on a motion put forward at that meeting?
NSW Q: Can I resign from my positions of both Secretary and Treasurer of our owners corporation, effective immediately? What happens if no one wants to take my position?
WA Q: Is your strata manager required to notify you of common property works such as resurfacing the driveway? If so, how much notice should they give residents?
ACT Q: We are currently being affected by someone smoking inside their unit. Can provide an example of the no smoking bylaw to ban smoking in apartments?
NSW Q: My tenant caused damage to the carpark gate of the apartment building before moving out. The SM now requests that, as the landlord, I need to pay $2500 for the repair. Am I responsible?
QLD: At a recent EGM, 11 lot owners voted who were not even present at the meeting. Is there a rule or a law to prevent this or punish owners who behave in this way?
By-laws are the rules that govern an owners corporation. All owners and occupiers are required to comply with the by-laws of their strata scheme and as such, it is important that by-laws are clearly drafted and easily interpreted. Jasmin H.Singh & Allison Benson,
