NSW Q: We have a by-law stating residents are permitted to smoke on common property. This came about as one lot owner wanted the by-law and no-one challenged him at the time. I am strongly against the by-law and want to know how I can get this smoking bylaw changed.
QLD Q: Can an apartment gym be used for another purpose such as board games? In our building, residents are restricted from accessing the gym area during games days.
QLD Q: Our recent internal resident's newsletter pointedly reminds residents not to use balconies as storerooms, but does not refer to any bylaw or specific breach. Is this enforceable?
WA Q: I understand the new WA Reform Act will provide an easier path if you have separate multiple strata bodies within a mixed use building. Is it feasible and easier under the new Act to separate these interests?
ACT Q: Our executive committee recently approved a voluntary working bee in the common area garden. Are all participants required to register with the committee so they would be covered by the voluntary workers' insurance cover?
NSW Q: We did not receive a levy invoice or a notice of arrears. The next period notice invoice for levies, strata is charging interest and there is a notice of arrears fee. Do we have to pay the arrears notice fee and interest if we never received the invoice?
QLD Q: Who is entitled to vote to increase the number of committee members for a principal scheme to up to 12 as allowed under the new regulation changes?
QLD Q: We are about to repair our driveway for cracks and leaks to the underground car park. We are looking at carrying out the repair in three stages. Can this be treated as three seperate expenses or is this in breach of the regulations?

NSW: Inner West Council - Council’s war on food waste
Inner West Council is rolling out the food recycling service to Ashfield, Croydon & Croydon Park, Hurlstone Park, Summer Hill, and Haberfield in late March. The service is exclusive to apartment buildings and aims to provide food recycling services to residents without adequate space for home composting.
Food recycling bins will be collected weekly and each building will receive kitchen benchtop bins, compostable bin liners, food recycling posters, bin bay signs, and direct access to our Resource Recovery Officers for assistance. Join Inner West Council to fight the war on food waste.
