Question: While carrying out renovations, engineering work was required to repair concrete cancer in the floor. Can I be reimbursed the substantial costs for repairs to common property defects?

Hynes Legal Question: We live in a duplex and a boundary fence needs replacing. Is the cost of boundary fences in a duplex the responsibility of both owners of the duplex and the neighbouring property?
Dan Slattery, Strata Law Services Question: I have a water leak which appears to have originated from the balcony above. Do I need to contact my neighbour myself? What can I do if they refuse access to have the leak investigated?

Allsorts Strata Community Question: The strata manager for our new building was appointed by the developer and is located in the eastern states. He has no idea of the needs of the building. Surely this is not ideal.

Wattblock There has been a significant change in technology with "smarter" devices now being installed into apartment blocks. More equipment is using sensors, connecting to the internet and providing real-time monitoring information back to strata committees to help them better manage their buildings.

NSW: Community schemes law reform
The NSW Government is seeking public feedback on the drafting of the Community Land Management Bill 2019 and the Community Land Development Bill 2019. The Bills completely rewrite NSW community schemes laws. They are aligned with the major 2015 strata scheme reforms, make community land development legislation more flexible and incorporate feedback from the implementation of the strata laws.
