QLD: Can a Body Corporate Tow a Car?
Answered by Frank Higginson, Hynes Legal
Question: I have a problem with my parking space. I run the business at the medical building. My lot get one parking which I clearly put the sign up that it’s only MY NAME who can park there, still, loads of car parked there and it’s really stress me out!
I now put up a sign saying “You are parked ILLEGALLY. Your number plate has been noted. You will be towed if you park here again”. Then, someone tore my sign off.
I contact numerous times to Body Corporate, before this, I kindly asked for CCTV footage because my car got crashed in the parking lot and since then until now (More than 1month), I have not received any CCTV footage yet. My Body Corporate works slow, helpless, and rude. Do you have any suggestion regarding this matter? I have no idea what to do!

Answered by Jan Browne, Whittles Strata Partners
Question: A floating floor was layed in the apartment above me in 2016. I continually hear noise from jumping, dropping items, constant movement of furniture and what sounds like a ball bouncing. This has been driving me crazy for two years now. Am I being oversensitive? The situation is no longer amicable. They feel it is not their problem, but between the owner and me. Am I unreasonable? What can I do to get my sanity back? [paraphrased by admin]

SA: Q&A No Officers of the Strata Corporation at our Small Scheme
Answered by Tony Johnson, Horner Management
Question: I am a proxy at a small block of units in SA. One of the units in the block has multiple joint owners. And one of these owners held the positions of secretary, treasurer and presiding officer. This person that has held all these roles recently resigned. But she was also doing the job of Strata manager without the appointment to any of these positions. She self-appointed herself and used bullying tactics, intimidation & our ignorance to do these roles.
Can the person who resigned still stand for treasurer, secretary or the presiding officer position? Can 2 lots Owners from the same unit take on positions, one being on the committee and the other being Strata Manager?
